Chair of Governors Statement:
Dear Parents and Carers
The role of the interim board is to support and challenge the leadership team in its work to improve the quality of teaching and ultimately the outcomes achieved by pupils at the school. The board also ensures the school is meeting its statutory requirements in terms of safeguarding, health and safety and financial planning. The board will meet monthly to review progress with leaders in relation to the issues identified in the Ofsted report.

Gina De N’Yeurt
Undoubtedly you already know Gina who has been the deputy headteacher at May Park for a number of years. As acting headteacher for the next academic year, Gina will be a member of the board and report on the work of the leadership team. Gina has a very good understanding of the school’s challenges and will be invaluable to the board in providing updates on progress.
Therese Gillespie (Chair)
Therese is a former Director of Children’s Services, has an extensive knowledge of the education system and is an experienced chair working with schools in difficult circumstances. Therese is also experienced in managing school finance.
Desrine has been a governor for many years and works in the education system. She has a finance background and has a deep understanding of school financial systems. She has worked within the local community for many years and has strong links with the school.
Richard is a Bristol Local Authority Officer and former headteacher. He has a wide experience in working with schools in difficult circumstances and has an in depth understanding of the national curriculum, pupil assessment and Ofsted inspection.
Margaret has extensive experience in school improvement having worked in a number of authorities with schools in challenging circumstances. Margaret has a detailed understanding of how schools can tackle underperformance and is a former Ofsted inspector.
